Find Support For Your Ostomy or J-Pouch!

Since 1968, the Calgary Ostomy Society has been dedicated to helping people with an ostomy or j-pouch. By fostering a community of support, education, and awareness, we have enabled countless individuals to live life to the fullest.

Our Services

Ostomy Visitor Program

The goal of the Ostomy Visitor Program is to reduce the emotional burden of people who have undergone or will undergo ostomy or j-pouch surgery, so they may return to their former physical, social and economic stutus. Speak to a Certified Ostomy Visitor today!

Calgary Ostomy Discovery Day, March 19, 2024.

Quarterly Meetings

Calgary Ostomy holds quarterly meetings, featuring guest speakers, new ostomy products, and more! This is an excellent opportunity to network with others living with an ostomy or j-pouch in Calgary. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday in March, June, September, plus a special Christmas Social in December.

Young Adults Group

The Calgary Ostomy Young Adults Group is a support and friendship group for people ages 18 to 40’s with a bowel or bladder diversion such as an ostomy or j-pouch. This group also provides a way for those graduating from the Ostomy Canada Youth Camp to receive support as they enter a new phase of life.

Ostomy & J-Pouch Virtual Support Group

The Ostomy & J-Pouch Support Group convenes via Zoom on the last Tuesday of each month. This gathering offers a secure environment to discuss ostomy surgery, products, and emotional well-being. Based on attendance, there may be a breakout session specifically for individuals with a J-Pouch.

Step Up For Ostomy Awareness Walk & Fundraiser

Every fall, Calgary Ostomy participates in “Step Up For Ostomy” to raise awareness and funds for Ostomy Canada. The event features a nature walk and seated yoga for those with mobility issues. We also host an Ostomy Expo with local vendors and manufacturers. The day concludes with a BBQ luncheon.

Ostomy Canada Youth Camp

Calgary Ostomy sponsors local children who have undergone ostomy or related bowel or bladder diversion surgeries to attend the Ostomy Canada Youth Camp in Bragg Creek every July. This camp offers a fun, supportive environment where kids can be themselves and receive encouragement from peers, NSWOC nurses, and mentors.
