Simply Ostomy Newsletter
The Calgary Ostomy Society publishes the Simply Ostomy Newsletter 4 times per year, typically being released 2 weeks prior to our quarterly meetings. This newsletter includes information about events, ostomy & j-pouch care, member stories, and more.
In the late 60’s, our little non-profit started with a snail mail newsletter, and decades later moved to an emailed PDF, which is the preferred method of communication for the majority of our members. However, with many younger generations entering the ostomy community, it is imperative we keep up with various avenues of communication, such as our website blog, Facebook, Instagram, email and youtube. Traditionally, ostomy chapters usually recyle articles from all kinds of sources, but because of copywrite issues, I can’t post just anything on our website. Therefore, I am truly in need of original content, such as stories, care tips, advice, photos and more. I am also part of the Ostomy Canada marketing team, so your contributions can also be utilized on a national scale. Everyone within the ostomy community is invited to participate, including ostomates, j-pouchers and their loved ones; NSWOCs, doctors and medical professionals; ostomy manufacturers and vendors, etc.

Simply Ostomy Newsletter 2023
This year we have cut our newsletter down from 16 to 8 pages. There is also a reduction in vendor advertizing. A few reasons for this is due to Tiffany’s increasing role with the national office, Ostomy Canada, as well as the rising costs of printing.

Simply Ostomy Newsletter 2021
Half way through 2021 the name and design of the Calgary Ostomy Society’s newsletter was changed to Simply Ostomy.
Changing Times Newsletter 2020
Due to Covid-19 affecting our quarterly planning in 2020, we needed more flexibility in publication dates. That fall, we changed the naming convention from months to seasons.
Changing Times Newsletter 2019
In 2019 the Adobe Online Publication was adopted. This is a more interesting way to read an online newsletter as it offers many features that a PDF doesn’t. There is still a PDF available for download inside the online publication.
Where are the rest of the archives?
There are many more years of newsletters, but it would be very time consuming for me to scan or upload documents. I still haven’t found the time to do this! If you are interested in seeing more, I usually bring a tote box full of past editions to our events, as well as other publications such as the Ostomy Canada Magazine and brochures.
