President’s Message Sept 2018
From Your President
Hi Friends,
Please note the change in meeting venue for September. The Cancer Society is still making renovations to their space, so we have had make other arrangements for this month.
I hope everyone enjoyed the summer despite all the forest fire smoke. There are many ways to beat the heat and many ways to live life on your terms. Angie Schickerowski, one our members, will speak about methods she has written about in her book “The Healing Compass”. Alexandra Kushliak will talk about Advance Care Planning which will help you think and talk about documenting your wishes for health care and Goals of Care Planning. Both speakers will offer helpful information.
Youth Camp is over for another year. We had 49 campers this summer. Our chapter was able to sponsor 8 kids thanks to your generosity at our fundraising event at Christmas.
Thank you to all our volunteer drivers who helped transport kids to and from camp, and those who held the fort down at Wellspring.
Tiffany has been working on updating our website. It should be completed this month. We are also working on capability to obtain online payments.
Another member was successful in obtaining the federal Disability Tax Credit. I encourage you to try for it. Details can be found on the Ostomy Canada website ostomycanada.ca.
The next Small Group meeting will take place Tuesday, October 9 at 7:00 pm at Wellspring.
Wishing you good health!
Pat Cimmeck
